This is another shot from our holiday in Sardinia. The Costa Smerelda (Emerald Coast to you and I) is on the north east of the island near Olbia. Is quite simply breathtaking a fact not lost on the tourist trade. Everywhere there is space (which is thankfully not too often) there is a very expensive hotel with even more expensive yachts moored outside.

Edit: A pox on lightroom! The vignette didnt look half as extreme as that! Doh! Looks better on black.

Wow I cant believe its been so long since I updated. 8 months have just flown in. Little did I know that in the time it would take me to post that I would nearly be a Dad!

I took this pic on holiday in Sardinia. The dogs are as you might have guessed, called Lilly and Rocky. They belonged to a lovely guy we met called Bastion who was over from the Italian mainland for a holiday too. Neither of us spoke a common language but we managed to muddle through and have a pleasant, if a little simple, conversation. This pair were his travelling companions and seemed really very happy to be well anywhere new.

OK I lied this is my last post before Christmas. I wanted to take something new and festive since we have all this snow about at the moment so, after work yesterday I grabbed the tripod D40 and my IR loaded Spotmatic and went out to the canal. Unfortunately by the time I got away from the house over to the other side of the water I had already lost the light and was left with that horrendous orange sodium glow that blights pretty much every urban area in the UK.  I got a few shots of on the digital but nothing that worth keeping. I wasn’t going to have the chance to try it again today either as I had to stay in for a delivery (which still hasn’t arrived). Fortunately though the cats seemed fascinated by the falling snow outside this morning and gave me a chance to get something festive before the Christmas madness properly kicks off.  I hope you like it.

Still not been out to shoot anything new although I have lots of ideas for when the stupid season is over. Also just took delivery of my first roll of IR film so I’m looking forward to experimenting with that and my hand me down Spotmatic.

I took this picture over a year and a half ago and instantly after uploading it I wasn’t really very happy with the treatment I had given it. It was too glowy and I wasn’t happy with the green tones. I’m well aware that I’ve probably over done it again with the texturing but I felt since pictures from that spot are a dime a dozen, I’d do something to make mine stand out a bit. Something other than making it look like it had been coloured in with a highlighter pen that is.

This is another shot I took on our day out to the Natural History Museum. This fabulous looking building in a building is The Cocoon in the Darwin Centre at the museum. It basically an exhibit in which science is on show. Its a fascinating place, very high tech with lots of touch screen interactive displays showing how the real scientists at the centre go about their work.

I took this one of Caroline at the Natural History Museum in London. This was in the Expressions exhibition with works relating to Charles Darwin’s The Expression of Emotions in Man and Animals. I’m not sure if I’ve over done the post processing but I still like the effect.

I’ve been sifting through my catalog looking for stuff to take a fresh look at and came sccross this one. I took this one ages ago on a day trip to Linlithgow Palace. I quite liked it at the time so heaven knows why I didn’t spend any time on it. I’ve now actually entered it in a competition that Historic Scotland are running so fingers crossed.

I took this one on the second last day of our honeymoon in St Lucia. We had been booked on a sunset cruise but it was cancelled at the last minute. So rather than let the opportunity pass us by we took a walk out along the pier at our hotel. This was the view we saw as we looked out of the bay toward the setting sun. I like the picture a lot but it really doesn’t do the real thing justice.

This is my beautiful wife, Caroline. This is a very rare shot as she’s normally very camera shy. I think I got smacked round the back of the head after taking this one but it was worth it, she looks gorgeous and I really like how it turned out.

OK fair enough I didn’t actually take this one but I am quite chuffed with the post processing I’ve done on it and I have a good excuse for it being out of focus It was taken at my nephews’ Halloween party, I probably should have dressed up but I figured I’d probably fit in just as myself

Edit: It wasn’t until I posted this and saw it on the site that I saw how huuuuge my nose looks on the front page image!
